2014 A Level Results the best in recent Years

A Level Success for John Colet Students

John Colet students were celebrating today as they received this year’s A Level results, which were some of the best in recent years.

This academic year saw a change to the examination system, as modules were abolished in favour of all exams being taken during the summer period. John Colet students appear to have thrived in the new system as students achieved a 93% pass rate in A2 Level exams. AS Level exam students secured a 92% pass rate.

The top performing students at A2 level included:

Ryan Brooks (A* in Travel and Tourism, A grades in History and Sociology)

James Davis (A grades in Psychology and Sports Studies, B in Biology)

Lauren Skinner (A* in Film Studies, A in Communication Studies, B in Psychology)

The AS level highest achievers included:

Orie Amadi (A grades in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and C in Geography)

TJ Higgs (A grades in Travel and Tourism, Business Studies, Geography and B in ICT)

Head Teacher, Christine McLintock, congratulated the students, she said: “I am delighted with the results this year. John Colet students are encouraged to have high expectations of themselves and these results demonstrate that through hard work and commitment fantastic grades can be achieved. Pupil progress is our priority and these results support this. I am incredibly proud of both the students and staff.”

Ollie Gardiner

Sad news from John Colet School It is with great sadness that I inform you that Ollie Gardiner died yesterday afternoon at home. Ollie will be greatly missed and his struggle against cancer has touched everyone at John Colet. Ollie was an incredibly brave student, who always looked to the positive and loved coming to school, mixing with his many friends and learning in lessons. We will fondly remember Ollie’s smile, determination and enthusiasm and he will be missed by everyone within the John Colet Community. I am sure that you have followed Ollie’s fight against this terrible disease and admired his resolve. Ollie’s death has affected our students deeply as they have supported him and have been inspired by his strength, and as a community we have all pulled together to raise money to support his treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this tragic time. Yours sincerely Miss Sarah Palmer Acting Headteacher
